3 Reasons to Include a Game Show to Liven Up your Next Franchise Convention!

Incorporating a game show into your next franchise convention is a great way to engage your attendees in a high-energy and often times hilarious learning experience. Whether using a game show as a way to reinforce new information, to build a sense of unity and teamwork or to just simply entertain and engage your franchisees, incorporating a custom game show is a fantastic way to spice up your annual franchise convention.

Our most in-demand franchise entertainer, emcee, awards night host, and game show facilitator and celebrity host,  John Di Domenico recently shared some of his many ideas with me in a short Syke interview…

First let’s talk about content. When launching an initiative with myriad details that you want your franchisees to really grasp, a game show can reinforce the key messages and make the learning fun!

And with today’s smart phone interactive apps, audience participation can be tabulated real-time and projected onto the screen moment by moment, engaging everyone in the room.

Content driven game show formats might include:

  • Jeopardy
  • Family Feud
  • Minute To Win It – Celebrity Host Guy Fieri (AKA John Di Domenico)
  • Deal or No Deal – Celebrity Host Howie Mandel (AKA John Di Domenico)
  • Who Wants to Be a Millionaire

Next, let’s consider how a custom game show can be a dynamic team-building event for your franchisees. Whether used as an ice-breaker to help newer franchisees meet and interact with more tenured members of your franchise system or to create an opportunity for your franchisees to see things differently and use different thinking styles, game shows can help stimulate the brain, improve retention of ideas, and increase the fun-factor in the process!

Team-building game show formats might include:

  • Jeopardy
  • Family Feud
  • Who Wants to a Millionaire
  • The Apprentice – Celebrity Host Donald Trump (AKA John Di Domenico)

And finally, game shows are just plain FUN! You don’t have to have a reason to include a game show in your conference agenda other than simply wanting to create energy and fun for your franchisees. I have to warn you though, even if you choose a game show format just for the fun and entertainment value, your franchisees are bound to learn something new and become more connected with each other as a team.

‘Just-for-the-Fun-of-It!’ game show formats might include:

  • Minute to Win It – Celebrity Host Guy Fieri (AKA John Di Domenico)
  • Deal or No Deal – Celebrity Host Howie Mandel (AKA John Di Domenico)
  • Who Wants to be a Millionaire – Regis Philbin (AKA John Di Domenico)

The best part – game shows don’t have to require a big investment!  They are completely scalable and with the right host, can be customized to utilize the technology that is already contracted for your event. Whether your franchise convention is designed to be ‘no-tech’, ‘low-tech’, or is a full-on, professionally produced, ‘high-tech’ production, a game show can be fully customized to maximize whatever resources are available. In fact,  John runs a version of Deal or No Deal with no technology and makes it possible for everyone in the room to be involved!

Now for a favor, we are compiling ideas and success stories on how to use game shows in franchise conferences and would love to hear from you.

  • Have a great idea to share?
  • How about a success story of what a game show did for your system moral?
  • Or even a tale of a game show gone awry?

We’d love to have your input for our 2014 Franchise Convention Game Show Idea e-book!
